Why I Love/Hate When It Snows In Atlanta

Ok, so I just returned home from Publix, a grocery store here in Georgia, and I feel as though I survived an adventure. It is a rarity that we get snow here and although I've been here for years, I still get a kick out of the natives run on the grocers for milk, eggs, and bread. I couldn't even get a carton of Almond Breeze because they were completely out! So here's my list of reasons why I love/hate when it snows here.

I love it when it snows in the A because.....

1. If it snows enough, schools are closed

2. If schools don't close, but it snows enough for the parents, they will not send their children to school anyway

3. After the hoopla, I can find parking anywhere and everywhere easily

4. I get to stay in bed all day, watch old movies and catch up on blogs

5. The snow creations are hilarious because they are part snow, leaves, twigs, and dirt

But I also hate it because.......

1. Although I know how to drive in it, I dare not because the natives drive crazy on a sunny day, add some precipation and see what happens

2. If you really need milk, eggs, or bread - Good luck because there was a run on those items when the weather reporters first mentioned a chance of snow

3. The grocery store parking lot makes me feel like Frogger when I get out of my car.

4. If APS doesn't close, please believe the children you need a break from will be in attendance

5. My friend who could be here watching old movies with me can't get a flight back home

Until next time.....journey light.......luv, peace, and an abundance of blessings,

Maybe I Am a Shoe Whore, But What Are You?

Ok, so yesterday it was not my intention to buy any shoes at all. I only wanted to pick up some items for my students at the store next door. But I saw one of those signs. You know the one that has the big multicolored dots on them. The first dot says something or 'nother and the second says "1/2 off" or "free". Rightttt that one. See I knew you knew :) So, I was lured into this shoe store by one of these signs and thought, well, maybe I do need one pair of really comfortable work shoes.

I saw a pair. Tried them on. Hmph, not really cute but possibly do-able. Then, I saw another. It was a little more appealing to the eye and was slightly more comfortable. So, I slipped the other on and proceeded to do my "try before you buy walk". Which by the way, really does not work because I always find myself giving away shoes that scored a big fat ZERO in the real world trial. Anywho, I digress, so as I was walking around in the possible pair, out of the corner of my eye I spotted a neon green sticker with $12 flashing on it next to the original price of $59.99. Kind of like the blue light in Kmart. Well, not really flashing, but as you begin to slide into bargain mode, this is generally what appears to be the case in one's mind. Therefore, I surmised that where there is 1 great deal, there must be at least 2. Now I know how Goldilocks felt when she began her taste test of porridge until she was satisfied. I, of course, was not satisfied until I purchased 4 pairs of shoes and decided I could do without the pair truly intended for work.

Three of the four are about 3 inches so those will only be seen every blue moon. For those of you, who knowme-knowme, already know that I really could care less what I wear to work, but a cute shoe, a banging purse, and a deal will have said item in the top of my closet waiting for a matching piece to come along for the party. WooHoo!! So here I am spilling my guts and posting pics of the 3 pairs of heals, because Mo said she wanted to see them. LOL. I figured I might as well add my rarely worn favs too. Until the next time......journey light.

BTW, question -Ladies, has the state of the economy slowed your spending? or are you in fifth gear on bargain hunting?

Favs that I've had over a year or more, but I've only worn a couple of times :)

Life Thoughts by Ducky

My friend, Soli, sent me this and I thought it was too cute not to pass on. Enjoy!

I saw a woman wearing a sweat shirt with 'Guess' on it.
So I said 'Implants?' She hit me.

How come we choose from just two people to run for president and over fifty for Miss America?

Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

I signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose fitting clothing. If I HAD any loose fitting clothing, I wouldn't have signed up in the first place!

When I was young we used to go 'skinny dipping,' now I just 'chunky dunk.'

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over? AMEN, AMEN !!

Why is it that our children can't read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?

Wouldn't you know it....Brain cells come and brain cells go, but FAT cells live forever.

Why do I have to swear on the Bible in court when the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed outside?

Bumper sticker of the year: 'If you can read this, thank a teacher -and, since it's in English, thank a soldier.

And remember: life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

Hmm, What Should I Throw Away?

Hey Beautiful People! Wow, I am on my 3rd posting in 24 hours! Imma have to slow it down after this one, lol. Anywho, I was reading my friend Tiff's posting on facebook today and have been plagued with the thought "out with the old to make way for the new". Why do I say plagued like it's a bad thing. Because although I am all for welcoming change, I have a really difficult time trying to figure out what to keep and what to throw out. I tend to be quite sentimental although many of my friends don't see it :). Plus I'm organized to a point that I have various types and sizes of containers to ziploc, file, and seal things in to store for later. So how do I determine what to get rid of?

For instance, although the exhubby and I have been apart 3 years now and there is no going back, I still have our marriage certificate, some letters, and a small sampling of the various cards he gave me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has these things. Now the question is what do you do with them? Stash or trash? I also have some mementos, pics, and ish from those other two I did time with. Hmm, sounds a lil' prisonish. Well, whatever. It is what it is and y'all know what I mean. Now on to the box full of cassettes with everything from Roxanne, Roxanne to Planet Rock to Juicy Fruit (ol skool not the lean wit it rock wit it era) but I have nary a device to enjoy them. And what about all those recipes I cut out of the newspaper or picked up from Publix to fill that $5.99 organizer I purchased last year. My family and friends know once the boy became of age, and I was reintroduced to the single life, I put away my apron and on VERY rare occasions retrieve it to whip up one of their favorites. Then there's the more popular questions of how long should I hold on to my old tax returns and proof that I did in fact pay that Sprint bill from 2002. How about the Halloween costume I wore in '07? The mask from '08. Hmm. The home movies experimental filming. Lol.

So what do you suggest? Or is there something you have that should be or should have been tossed long ago? While you're thinking, I'm off to see the the wizard for a box of large trash bags.
Until the next time......journey light.

Luv, peace, blessings,
E
